Newport Montessori School Promotes Todd Bersaglieri to Assistant Director

Newport, N.H., August 18, 2020

The Newport Montessori School (NMS) has announced that Todd Bersagleiri has been promoted to the position of NMS Assistant Director. Bersagleiri will assist the school’s director, Christy Whipple, with the many administrative tasks associated with the Newport Montessori School, including student registration which has seen a significant increase in recent years.

As assistant director, Bersagleiri will specifically be tasked with assisting in the Newport Montessori School’s renewal of its earned accreditation status as a non-public school, and he will also serve to assist the school in its incorporation of health insurance benefit options into the benefits packages of eligible school employees, beginning in the 2021-2022 academic year.

Bersagleiri’s promotion reflects the heightened focus on strategic planning and efficacy that NMS Director Whipple and the NMS Board of Directors have recently adopted in response to the notable enlargement of the Newport Montessori School’s diverse learning community and the families it serves. A second school administrator will help to ensure the school’s quality programming while enabling flexible expansion where needed.

Mr. Todd, as he is affectionately known by his students, has served as Lead Teacher for the Middle School for five years and has been an instrumental part of the Newport Montessori School’s success. In addition to his teaching role, he serves as the manager of the school’s hot lunch program, as well as the initiator and instructor for the school’s Robotics Club. Prior to his employment at NMS, he served as a member of the school’s Board of Directors, from 2012-2015.

Bersagleiri received undergraduate degrees in biochemistry and math from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, and a teaching certification from the Massachusetts Institute for New Teachers. He is a former high school math teacher, Dartmouth laboratory technician, and owner of the Stone Arch Bakery, which he operated for ten years.

Finding opportunities for learning in all of life’s vast array, Mr. Todd enjoys the new adventure that every day brings to students at the Newport Montessori School where every student has a voice in their education.
